Free State Stars were unable to make it three wins in a row as they were held by Platinum Stars in the PSL Absa Premiership on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors' goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane stood between 'Ea Lla Koto' and certain victory when he made a sensational save from a Dove Wome piledriver from 14 metres in the 75th minute - it surely must rank as one of the saves of the PSL season and it was no surprise that the Platinum Stars goalkeeper was unanimously voted 'Man of the Match' .

He was mainly responsible for his team keeping a clean sheet and gaining a valuable point.

The home side dominated play territorially, producing twice as many shots on goal as their opponents and keeping Mpontshane busy throughout the 90 minutes.

In the process, Stars maintained their fifth position in the PSL log, but must rue not having come away with the maximum three points.

In a desperate effort to secure victory, Stars threw everything onto attack in the closing stages, with Zambian international goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene on one occasion taking matters into his own hands and dribbling the ball down the right flank before attempting to initiate an elusive goal.
